Hello readers,
As expected, April was very busy, but I survived. It’s always the last 10% that’s the hardest, but I’m getting there…
Update
I was able to send off the novel for copyediting and proofreading earlier in the month. It was a close call, but the benefit of a hard deadline is that I couldn’t keep making changes. I’m at the stage where I need to appreciate it’ll never be perfect, so it’s nice having someone else read through it.
I was able to add my first post on Facebook, but still need to do one for Instagram. I haven’t given myself time to think up some images to use. I need to be more proactive with marketing, but as long as I can maintain this newsletter I’ll be happy.
I didn’t do any writing for the later books, but I think I needed a break as getting the first novel ready for editing took a lot out of me. I have been working on an LLM that can assist in identifying comparable authors, which has been good fun.
Plan
I’ll receive comments from the editor mid-May. I’m excited to see what it looks like after this (final?) round of edits. My plan is then to make my way through this before sending it to a select few beta readers to make sure it’s (near) perfect. If all goes well, I’ll hopefully have a release date in the next month or two!
I’ll do my best to work more on the socials. I’ll also continue working on the comparable author LLM which will help with marketing. My plan is to make this freely available on my website and Github for those that are interested. In short, it should be able to read your novel, summarise it, and then provide suggestions. The best part is your novel would remain local, so nothing is put online and the LLM won’t use it for its own training. But I’ll hopefully have more details next month.
Cool science
There has been some research into binary stars and exoplanet formation, as they investigate the possibility of planet formation in a system with two stars. The Three-Body Problem is the first thing that comes to my mind, but it’s interesting to consider how a planet could form (even if it’s not destined to stay). For my own novel, it’s interesting to consider what the light cycle may be for a planet in this system, so maybe for a later story…
Only love,
